Marlon Craft was born on February 27, 1993, in Manhattan, New York. His father is a jazz drummer while his mother is a producer for an Off’Broadway theater company.

The rapper was born in what’s known as Hell’s Kitchen in Manhattan. Also known as Clinton, it’s considered a neighborhood on the west side of the borough.

Craft was raised in a Mitchell-Lama residential complex named Manhattan Plaza, located within Hell’s Kitchen.

Craft attended The Beacon School in Hell’s Kitchen. It’s a selective college-preparatory institution. Throughout his youth, Craft played AAU basketball in the South Bronx.

Upon graduating from high school, he got accepted into American University in Washington, D.C. There, he created his own major called Urban Education and Social Justice. It was college when Craft began making music of his own.

Following college, Craft returned home to New York where he began posting freestyles on YouTube. Then in March of 2015, he released his first project entitled Pieces. The next year, Craft dropped a pair of EPs: So, What Are You Doing? and he looked like nothing.

The second EP contained the single Workin’ and a subsequent short film titled after the project.

Craft made waves in 2017 with his second mixtape, The Tunnel’s End, which made it to number two on the iTunes Hip Hop chart behind Jay-Z’s 4:44. After opening for Dizzy Wright in 2018, Craft released a collection of EPs titled A Dollar in Quarters, 25c, 50c, and 75c.

His 2019 single Gang Shit and its coinciding music video received a lot of attention as the rapper played a racist white police officer, a Ku Klux Klan member, and a black man serving prison time for an armed robbery.

The rapper released his debut studio LP in May of 2019 to pretty high praise. Craft received props from artists like Killer Mike and T.I. It also featured guest appearances from Dizzy Wright and Nyck Caution.

He rode the momentum from his debut album by spitting a killer freestyle on the Sway in the Morning segment, “5 Fingers of Death”.

In 2021, Craft dropped his second LP entitled How We Intended, which is packed with 17 tracks. He also went back to his roots a bit, dropping freestyles and more mixtapes. Tapes include SPACE and HOMECOURT ADVANTAGE, Vol. 1.

Craft and his team formed an art collective, movement, and lifestyle brand called “OUR.S” in 2019. The organization helped coordinate what’s known as “WORKWEEK”, a series of public events in March and April of 2019 that highlighted various non-profit organizations. He later released the single Do The Work in support of the WORKWEEK events.

The rapper left his partnership with Same Plate Entertainment in 2020 to officially become independent. He then jumpstarted The Center, an exclusive online subscription community of supporters where fans can directly fund the creation of Craft’s content through a seven-dollar-per-month subscription.
