Patrick Justin McAfee was born in May of 1987 in Plum, Pennsylvania to parents Tim and Sally.

His hometown is a suburb in the city of Pittsburgh. There, he attended Plum High School where he played soccer, volleyball, and football. Impressively, he garnered collegiate interest in all three.

After winning $1,300 from playing poker, McAfee went to Miami to take part in a national field goal-kicking competition. He made nine straight kicks and just missed a 70-yard attempt.

Once home, a recruiter from West Virginia University offered McAfee a football scholarship.

The Pennsylvania native played four years for the Mountaineers, once making 106 consecutive extra points. McAfee played well enough to get drafted as a kicker in the seventh round.

The Indianapolis Colts selected McAfee with the 222nd overall pick in the 2009 NFL Draft. Immediately, he handled punting and kick-off duties for the AFC South team. Over the span of his eight-year career, McAfee was named to a pair of Pro Bowls as a punter.

While playing for the Colts, he took home about $15 million from his contracts with the squad.

After retiring, McAfee joined Barstool Sports where he hosted The Pat McAfee Show on SiriusXM. However, the former NFL player left the company after two years.

After leaving Barstool, McAfee launched a small business called Pat McAfee Inc. (PMI). There, he operates his charity and produces several podcasts such as The Pat McAfee Show 2.0.

Wildly, McAfee inked a four-year, $120 million deal with FanDuel in December 2021. Now, FanDuel is the sole provider of The Pat McAfee Show.

McAfee joined ESPN as the color analyst for their Thursday Night College Football broadcasts in 2019. Not only that, but he is also working with DAZN, Westwood One, and even Sirius XM.

Personal life

In 2019, McAfee got engaged to his girlfriend Samantha Ludy. Then, the couple got married a year later and have been together since. Sadly, they apparently cannot birth children naturally.

Interestingly, the punter broke a Guinness World Record in 2015 by successfully kicking a 40-yard field goal while blindfolded. However, a fan of his later broke the record at 45 yards.
