Marco Antonio Muniz Rivera was born in September of 1968 to parents Felipe and Guillermina in New York City. His father was a hospital cafeteria worker and musician, while his mother was a housewife.

Anthony, the youngest of eight children, grew up in the section of NYC known as El Barrio or Spanish Harlem. Notably, he was named after Mexican singer Marco Antonio Muñiz.

Beginning his musical education at home, Anthony took great inspiration from acts such as José Feliciano, Air Supply, Héctor Lavoe, Willie Colón, and especially, Tito Puente.

Originally, Anthony had a daughter named Adrianna in 1994 with his then-girlfriend Debbie Rosado. They adopted a son by the name of Chase also.

The singer briefly became engaged to Dominican-American actress Claudette Lali in the mid-90s. Then, he married former Miss Universe Dayanara Torres in 2000. Together, the couple had two sons, Cristian and Ryan, before divorcing in 2004.

Easily his most publicized relationship came with Jennifer Lopez from 2004 to 2014. Aside from collaborating on music together, the couple had twins named Emme and Maximilian.
