Billy Blanks Jr was born In March of 1974 in the Boston, Massachusetts area to parents Billy and Gayle. Technically, Blanks has four sisters, although none of them are fully blood-related. Their names are Shellie, Marriett, Elisabeth, and Angelika.
When he was just nine years old, Blanks was cast in a production of The Little Rascals. Afterward, he was too young to be in a production for 42nd Street. However, when the director saw him imitating some tap choreography, he was cast in the musical.
Shortly after, Blanks and his family followed his father out to Los Angeles after he got a job bodyguarding for actress Catherine Bach.
His father opened his Tae Bo studio when Blanks Jr was around 11 years of age. Paula Abdul took classes there and noticed he had an interest in dancing. Thus, she aided him in developing skills as a dancer and choreographer.

Other business ventures of Blanks include opening his own dance and fitness studio at the Arthur Murray Dance Studio in Connecticut, serving as the artistic director for the Wall Street Theater in Norwalk, as well as being the creative director for the Talent Recap website.
Lastly, Blanks launched his own fitness app with Touchpoint Group Holdings, Inc. which allows for subscribers to live-stream classes hosted by Blanks himself.
