Tisha Michelle Campbell was born in October of 1968 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma to parents Clifton and Mona (née Raye), Her father was a factory worker and singer, while her mother was a nurse, talent manager, gospel singer, and vocal coach.

Meanwhile, she has one older brother, three younger sisters, and a younger brother. The family was raised in Newark, New Jersey. There, Tisha attended Newark Arts High School.

In 1996, Campbell married actor Duane Martin. Together, the couple has two sons by the names of Xen and Ezekiel Czar. Unfortunately, they divorced after 21 years of marriage.

Campbell ended up settling a lawsuit in 1997 against Martin co-star Martin Lawrence. Her filing claimed Lawrence sexually harassed her and abused her on and off of the set.

Commendably, Campbell co-founded a non-profit foundation called Color My Mind in 2011.

The foundation is dedicated to raising awareness of childhood autism in communities of color. This came after her son Xen was diagnosed with autism when he was 18 months old.
