LisaRaye McCoy was born on the 23rd of September, 1967 in Chicago, Illinois, United States. She was born to her parents, David Ray and Katie McCoy. Her dad, David is a Chicago-based multi-millionaire businessman who was brutally killed in his car in 1988. The murder mystery of her father has not got solved yet. Her mom, Katie is a former professional model. She has a paternal half-sister named Da Brat, who is a famous rapper.

Regarding her educational detail, she has studied at St. James College Prep. Kenwood Academy. Later, she joined the Thornridge High School from where she graduated in 1986. Following high school graduation, she studied at Eastern Illinois University.
