Howard Matthew Moses Long was born in January of 1960 in Somerville, Massachusetts to parents Howard and Margaret. However, he was mainly raised by his uncles and maternal grandmother in Charlestown, Boston.

Meanwhile, Long attended and graduated from Milford High School in Milford, MA. He is a member of the school’s Hall of Fame for lettering in football, basketball, and track.

Impressively, he was named to the Scholastic Coach All-America team as a senior in football and set state records in the shot put and discus.

Long was taken in the second round of the 1981 NFL Draft by the Oakland Raiders. In 13 seasons with the team, Long made eight Pro Bowl appearances as a defensive end.

In 1983, he won Super Bowl XVIII as the starting left defensive end of the Oakland Raiders.

Immediately after retiring from the NFL in 1993, Long began his acting career. He appeared in films like Broken Arrow, Firestorm, Dollar for the Dead, and 3000 Miles to Graceland.

Simultaneously, Long was popping up in commercials for companies like Radio Shack, Coors Light, Nike, Campbell’s Chunky Soup, Hanes, Frito Lay, Coca-Cola, Pepsi, Pizza Hut, Taco Bell, Nabisco, Kraft, and Chevrolet.
