Early Life

Zach was born on November 20, 1990, in Indianapolis, Indiana. He went to Bishop Chatard High School where he started playing football. He was named first-team all-state selection as senior and junior. In 2007, he helped his school team to a 14-1 record and second consecutive Indiana Class 3A state championship.

Martin was considered a four-star recruit by Rivals.com. He was offered scholarships from colleges from Indiana, Kentucky, and Michigan but he decided to play for Notre Dame.

Career

As a junior in 2011, Martin started in all 13 games. In 2012, he led his team to a 12-0 regular-season record and a trip to the 2013 BCS National Championship game against the Alabama Crimson Tide. In his final season, he was named MVP of the 2013 Pinstripe Bowl after a win over Rutgers.

Zach Martin was selected in the first round by the Dallas Cowboys in the 2014 NFL Draft. From the start, he was a regular starter to the team. On December 23, he became one of four rookies to get to the 2014 Pro Bowl.
