Early Life

Ben Gordon was born in April 1983 in London, England. He was born to Jamaican parents, however, he has not shared enough detail about his parents. He was an infant when he shifted his place to the US. Ben spent his childhood days in Mount Vernon.

Gordon studied and played basketball for the Mount Vernon Knights. He also led his high school team to the 2000 New York State Public and Federation Championships. Ben was a top-40 national recruit and was also an All-State player at Mount Vernon. Gordon eventually decided to attend UConn despite being heavily recruited by Seton Hall University.

Ben ranked second on the team in scoring as a freshman at UConn. While playing at UConn, he scored the winning 3-point shot in the Big East tournament against Vilanova. Gordon continued his excellent form as a sophomore where he averaged a team-leading 19.5 points. Along with that, he also led the team with 156 total assists. Following that, he led the Huskies to the NCAA Championship and earned the Most Outstanding Player award.

He was also charged with resisting arrest at an arraignment Tuesday in Queens Criminal Court.
