Ben Gordon was born in April 1983 in London, England. He was born to Jamaican parents, however, he has not shared enough detail about his parents. He was an infant when he shifted his place to the US. Ben spent his childhood days in Mount Vernon.
Gordon studied and played basketball for the Mount Vernon Knights. He also led his high school team to the 2000 New York State Public and Federation Championships. Ben was a top-40 national recruit and was also an All-State player at Mount Vernon. Gordon eventually decided to attend UConn despite being heavily recruited by Seton Hall University.
Ben ranked second on the team in scoring as a freshman at UConn. While playing at UConn, he scored the winning 3-point shot in the Big East tournament against Vilanova. Gordon continued his excellent form as a sophomore where he averaged a team-leading 19.5 points. Along with that, he also led the team with 156 total assists. Following that, he led the Huskies to the NCAA Championship and earned the Most Outstanding Player award.

Ben declared himself eligible for the 2004 NBA draft after he played in his junior year. He was eventually selected by the Chicago Bulls. Along with that, he also recorded 21 double-digit fourth-quarter-point performances and became the second player to do so after LeBron James.

Gordon played for the Bulls until the 2008-09 season where he led the Bulls in scoring for the season and playoffs. Then, he signed a 5 year deal with the Detroit Pistons in July 2009. Afterward, he was traded to the Charlotte Bobcats in June 2012. Ben was waived by the Bobcats in March 2014.
Gordon then played for the Orlando Magic, the Golden State Warriors, and Texas Legends. Besides playing for professional teams, he represented to US national team at the 2003 Pan American Games. The American Airlines employee informed and told the police that she had witnessed Gordon punching the boy and shouting at him after he dropped a book on the floor.
Gordon was charged with 2 counts of assault in the second degree and third degree, criminal contempt in the first degree and second degree, endangering the welfare of a child, and attempted assault in the third degree. He was also charged with resisting arrest at an arraignment Tuesday in Queens Criminal Court.
Gordon spent the night at Rikers Island after he was unable to immediately post bail of $20,000 cash, $50,000 insurance bond, or $50,000 partial secured bond at 10%. On the other hand, his 10-year son was treated at Long Island Jewish Children’s Hospital.
