Paul Anthony Pierce was born in October of 1977 in Oakland, California to parents George and Lorraine Hosey. His family moved to Inglewood, CA when Paul was still a child.

There, he attended Inglewood High School, and surprisingly, he was cut from the school’s varsity basketball team during his freshman and sophomore years.

Afterward, he spent extra time in the gym to become the best player on the team as a junior.
