42 Dugg was born Dion Marquise Hayes on November 25, 1994, in Detroit, Michigan, United States. From an early age, he got into trouble. Dugg didn’t attend school much often as he used to spend more time at parties. Dugg went through legal trouble early at 15 years of age, due to which he had to spend 6 years in prison. However, he has not clarified the real reason for his imprisonment.

Even in jail, he was involved in fighting with other prisoners. He was put in solitary confinement in his 5th year of punishment. While spending in jail, he got himself involved in music. He used to find relaxing time by listening and creating music. As soon as he was released from prison, Dugg decided he would find a career path in music.
